Most yards we work on include turfed areas. Australians love grass. At Novascape, we love Sir Walter Buffalo. It’s a very resilient soft leaf turf that looks great all year round.
Sir Walter Buffalo was developed in the Hunter Valley, Australia for Australian conditions. This means that drought resistance and low maintenance are bred in.
One of the great things about Sir Walter is that it requires less watering when compared to other varieties. This is great for the environment and also reduces your watering costs. With hotter weather expected over summer, it’s important to water turf correctly. Frequent light watering encourages shallow root systems that are prone to drying out because they don’t have access to moisture that is retained deeper underground for longer periods of time. On the other hand, deep watering helps lawn cope with hotter temperatures by encouraging the roots to go deeper into the soil where moisture remains as the surface soil dries out.
One deep watering per week is recommended. However, you may be able to get away with watering less often.
